One year for Christmas, my husband seriously splurged and bought me a set of Shun knives. We love to cook, and these will last a lifetime — there was just one concern: I was often cutting myself, and the Shuns are seriously sharp.

Alton Brown, renowned foodist, author and television personality, also loves Shun knives — and put together for the company one of his high-energy but informative videos about how to cut with, clean and store the utensils for best — and safest — usage. Andy made this required viewing for me before I was allowed to so much as slice an onion.

Of course, we’ve also caught Brown on many of his other Food Network shows (like Iron Chef America) and appearances, and we were stoked to learn his “Alton Brown Live! The Edible Inevitable Tour” is coming to Hershey Theatre on Nov. 11 (that’s one week from today!).

Fans attending the Food Network star’s show can expect to see a pinch of comedy, talk show antics, a multimedia lecture, live music (he sings!) and a dash of “extreme” food experimentation (ponchos are provided for those in the first few rows), and of course … puppets.  Enthusiastic fans and critics have raved about the interactive component where Brown invites audience members on stage to serve as his assistant.

“We have combined science, music, food, and a few other things no one in his right mind would allow me to do on TV, in to a two hour extravaganza that’s fun for the whole family,” says Brown.  He has been cultivating the show’s material for about a decade and wrote most of the musical numbers which all take a comedic look at food.

Brown currently hosts the game show, Cutthroat Kitchen and serves as a mentor and judge on Food Network Star.

Brown created, produced and hosted the Peabody award winning series “Good Eats” for 13 years on Food Network, which still can be seen on the Cooking Channel. He has written seven books including the James Beard award-winning “I’m Just Here for the Food” and New York Times bestselling sequence “Good Eats.”

The “Alton Brown Live! The Edible Inevitable Tour” come to Hershey Theatre  at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11.

Tickets run $42.35-$142.35 (tax and applicable fees apply) and are available at Hershey Theatre Box Office.
