The Oxymorons bring their quick wit and jokes to Harrisburg Comedy Zone on Sunday, Aug. 12.
The improv group features Toby Bradbury, Liz Curtis, Josh Miller, Andy Shaw, Sara Shaw, and Randy Stamm and has been performing together since 2010.
The shows consist of a series of short-form improv scenes, a la “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” Everything on stage is created using audience suggestions and some scenes bring audience members on stage. It’s a high energy show, that can sometimes get a bit “blue” due to the audience interaction.
The Oxymorons say they love comedy and improv because it’s able to bring people together and the audience can forget their troubles during the show. “Laughter is contagious,” says Toby Bradbury. “It’s an icebreaker, and there is always a unique bond that you share with people you’ve laughed with.”
Catch The Oxymorons on the second Sunday of every month at Harrisburg Comedy Zone.
Gong Show Off Broadway at Scottish Rite Theatre

Before there was America’s Got Talent and American Idol, there was The Gong Show. A true game-changer for the times, The Gong Show was the first show to recognize that watching someone flop could be just as exciting as watching them soar.
Luckily for Harrisburg, audiences can experience the true magic of the “greatest TV show in human history” this month when the “Gong Show Off Broadway” rolls into Harrisburg on Aug. 17 at the Scottish Rite Theatre.
According to producer Leslie Gold, the “Gong Show Off Broadway” combines musical theatrics, comedy, and parody to invoke the same cheerful lunacy found in the classic show and she hopes the Off-Broadway production will invoke the same “lightning in a bottle” feeling viewers experienced during the show’s first run.
This time around, audiences can expect a full cast, professionally produced theatrical show featuring a variety of wildly talented characters and performers ranging from toothless contortionists to singing utensils. Comedians Chuck Nice and Brian Scott McFadden will serve as the show’s judges alongside host Ray Ellin.
The cast just wrapped up a wildly successful three-year run in New York City, and they’re excited to bring the show to Harrisburg for the first time.
As an extra treat, a portion of every ticket sold benefits the UPMC Pinnacle Children’s Resource Center, which provides support to victims of child abuse and neglect in the Harrisburg area.
So you can grab a seat, fall off of it from laughing, and do some good for the children of the Harrisburg Community.
